Toyota Navigation and SD Card Maps
Toyota’s factory navigation systems have used SD card-based maps across several generations of infotainment. Whether your Toyota has Touch & Go, Touch 2 with Go, or a later Entune system, keeping your maps current ensures accurate routing across the UK and Europe.
Which Toyota Models Have SD Card Navigation?
SD card navigation was available across Toyota’s range from approximately 2012, including:
- Toyota Yaris (2012–2020)
- Toyota Auris / Corolla
- Toyota Avensis
- Toyota RAV4
- Toyota Prius and Prius+
- Toyota C-HR
- Toyota Verso
- Toyota Proace
Lexus models sharing Toyota platforms (IS, GS, NX, RX) also used similar systems with SD card navigation.
Toyota Navigation System Generations
Touch & Go (TNS510)
The earlier generation, found in models from around 2012–2015. Uses a full-size SD card. The screen is smaller and the interface uses physical buttons alongside the display.
Touch 2 with Go (TNS700)
A later, more refined system with a larger touchscreen. Also uses a full-size SD card for map data. Found in models from around 2015–2020.
Toyota Entune (2019+)
Newer Toyota models use the Entune 3.0 system, which can receive over-the-air connected updates when the vehicle has a data connection.
Finding the SD Card Slot in Your Toyota
On most Toyota models with Touch & Go or Touch 2 with Go, the SD card slot is located inside the glovebox. Open the glovebox, and look for a labelled SD slot along the inner edge or rear wall. On some models, there is a second SD slot for audio — ensure you use the one marked for navigation.
Checking Your Current Map Version
From the navigation menu, go to: Menu → Settings → Map → Map Version. The map version code will be displayed. This is useful to confirm your system has accepted the new card and to verify you have the latest version.
Installing a Toyota Navigation SD Card
- Switch on the ignition (engine on, or accessory mode)
- Open the glovebox and locate the navigation SD slot
- Remove the old card if one is present, and insert the new SD card
- The system will detect the new card and prompt you to update
- Confirm the update and allow it to run — typically 20–40 minutes
- The navigation screen will restart when complete
As with all factory nav systems, keep the ignition on during the update and do not remove the card mid-process.
