Hyundai and Kia Navigation SD Card Guide: Tucson, Sportage, i30 and More

Hyundai and Kia Navigation Systems

Hyundai Motor Group owns both Hyundai and Kia and uses shared navigation platforms across its range. Many Hyundai and Kia models from 2014 to 2022 use a HERE-based navigation system with an SD card for map storage, making map updates straightforward with the right card.

Hyundai Models That Use a Navigation SD Card

  • Tucson (2015–2021) — Hyundai Navigation, SD card in the dash
  • i30 (2012–2021) — Navigation on SE Nav and Premium trims
  • i20 (2014–2020) — Navigation on upper trim levels

Where Is the SD Card Slot?

On most Hyundai and Kia models, the navigation SD card slot is on the face of the infotainment head unit — a small slot usually located beside the screen. Check your owner’s manual for the exact location on your model year.

Installation Steps

  • Start the engine
  • Press the existing SD card to eject it from the head unit slot
  • Insert the new map update card until it clicks in place
  • Confirm the update prompt on screen
  • Allow 30–50 minutes with the engine running
  • Leave the card inserted permanently after installation
