Fiat Factory Navigation Systems
Fiat vehicles sold in the UK with built-in navigation have used two main platforms over the past decade: Blue&Me Nav (older models) and Uconnect (models from approximately 2014 onwards). Fiat is part of the Stellantis group, sharing navigation technology with Alfa Romeo, Jeep, and Peugeot. Identifying which system your vehicle has is the first step to getting the right map update card.
Which Fiat Models Use a Navigation SD Card?
- Fiat 500 (2015–2022) — Uconnect 7″ HD Live on higher trims (Star, Rockstar); SD card navigation
- Fiat 500X (2015–2022) — Uconnect 7″ on Cross Plus, S-Design and above
- Fiat 500L (2012–2019) — Uconnect navigation on Living and Trekking trims
- Fiat Tipo (2016–2022) — Uconnect 7″ on Lounge and S-Design trims
- Fiat Panda (2012–2021) — Uconnect navigation on Cross and higher trims
- Fiat Doblo (2015–2021) — Uconnect navigation on higher trim work variants
Note: Many Fiat models — particularly entry-level and mid trims of the 500 and Panda — come with a radio/media unit but no factory navigation. If your screen doesn’t show a map, your Fiat may rely on Android Auto/Apple CarPlay for navigation rather than a built-in sat nav system.
What Navigation Data Does the SD Card Contain?
- Updated TomTom UK and European road network
- Speed limit data including new 20mph zones
- Fixed speed camera positions on UK roads
- Updated fuel station, EV charging, and Points of Interest data
- Postcode coverage for new residential and commercial developments
Where Is the SD Card Slot on a Fiat?
On Fiat models with Uconnect navigation, the SD card slot is typically on the face of the infotainment head unit — a small slot below or beside the touchscreen. On some 500 variants, it may be positioned in the centre console storage area. The card is standard SD size.
Installation Steps
- Start the engine
- Locate the SD card slot on the head unit
- Press to eject the existing card, insert the new update card until it clicks
- The Uconnect system will display a map update prompt — confirm it
- Allow 20–40 minutes with the engine running
- Leave the card inserted permanently after installation
Fiat 500 Electric and Navigation
The new Fiat 500e (fully electric, from 2020) uses a different infotainment system with a 10.25″ touchscreen. Navigation on the 500e is handled via the connected Google Maps integration and does not use an SD card. If you have a 500e, map updates are delivered over-the-air rather than via a physical card.
