Alfa Romeo Navigation Systems
Alfa Romeo is part of the Stellantis group and uses Uconnect navigation across its modern model range. Most Alfa Romeo models sold in the UK from 2014 to 2022 with factory navigation use an SD card for map storage, containing TomTom map data. Earlier models used a separate navigation unit with DVD or HDD storage.
Which Alfa Romeo Models Use a Navigation SD Card?
- Giulia (2016–2022) — Uconnect 8.8″ on Speciale, Veloce, and Ti trims; SD card navigation
- Stelvio (2017–2022) — Uconnect 8.8″ on Speciale, Veloce, and Ti trim levels
- Giulietta (2010–2020) — Uconnect 6.5″ or 7″ depending on year; SD card on nav trims
- MiTo (2008–2018) — Uconnect navigation on Distinctive and Veloce trims
- 4C (2013–2019) — optional navigation with SD card on equipped models
What’s Included in a Current Uconnect Map Update
- Updated TomTom UK and European road network data
- Revised speed limits including newly implemented 20mph zones across UK towns
- Fixed speed camera locations for UK roads
- Updated motorway service areas, EV charging points, and Points of Interest
- Improved address and postcode coverage for new developments
Where Is the SD Card Slot on an Alfa Romeo?
On Giulia and Stelvio models, the navigation SD card slot is typically on the face of the infotainment head unit, to the side of the screen. On Giulietta and MiTo models, the slot is often in the centre console storage area or on the lower part of the head unit. All use standard SD card size.
Installation Process
- Start the engine to power the Uconnect system fully
- Locate and eject the existing SD card
- Insert the new map update card until it clicks into place
- Accept the update prompt on the Uconnect screen
- Allow 25–45 minutes for maps to install with the engine running
- Leave the card inserted — it stores map data the navigation reads continuously
Alfa Romeo vs Fiat Uconnect Cards — Are They Interchangeable?
Alfa Romeo and Fiat both use Uconnect with TomTom map data, but navigation SD cards are typically branded separately for each marque and may have different system activation requirements. A card sold specifically for Alfa Romeo Uconnect should be used in Alfa Romeo vehicles, even though the underlying map data is the same TomTom database used across Stellantis brands.
