Alfa Romeo Navigation: Uconnect Platform
Alfa Romeo is part of the Stellantis group and uses the Uconnect infotainment platform across its range — the same platform used in Fiat, Jeep and Maserati vehicles. This means the navigation SD card format and update process is shared across these brands, making map cards widely available.
Which Alfa Romeo Models Have SD Card Navigation?
- Alfa Romeo Giulia (952, from 2016) — navigation on Speciale, Veloce and above
- Alfa Romeo Stelvio (949, from 2017) — navigation on Speciale, Veloce and above
- Alfa Romeo Giulietta (940, facelift from 2016) — navigation on Distinctive and above
- Alfa Romeo MiTo (955, from 2014) — navigation on Distinctive and above
- Alfa Romeo 4C (960, from 2013) — navigation on selected specifications
Uconnect System Versions on Alfa Romeo
Earlier Alfa Romeo models (Giulietta, MiTo pre-facelift) used Uconnect 6.5 NAV with a 6.5-inch screen. The Giulia and Stelvio use Uconnect 8.4 NAV with an 8.4-inch touchscreen. Both versions use SD cards for navigation, though the card version differs between the two screen sizes.
SD Card Slot Location
On Giulia and Stelvio models: the SD card slot is on the lower-left portion of the Uconnect head unit, behind a small flap. On Giulietta: the slot is on the face of the head unit. Your Alfa Romeo handbook will show the exact location with a diagram.
Checking Your Map Version
On Uconnect: press the Settings button → System Information → Map Information or Map Version. The current map version and region will be displayed.
Installing the Navigation Map Update
- Start the engine or switch to accessory mode
- Insert the new navigation SD card into the Uconnect slot
- The system detects the card and prompts to begin the update
- Confirm — keep the ignition on throughout (20–40 minutes)
- The system restarts when complete; leave the card inserted for ongoing use
Cross-Brand Compatibility
Uconnect navigation cards designed for Fiat 500X or Jeep Renegade (which share the same platform as the Giulietta and MiTo) may be compatible with those Alfa Romeo models using the same screen size. However, always verify compatibility with your specific model and screen size before ordering — while the platform is shared, software configurations can differ.
