Nissan Navigation SD Card Guide: Qashqai, Juke, Leaf, X-Trail and More

Nissan Factory Navigation — Nissan Connect

Nissan vehicles sold in the UK with factory navigation use the Nissan Connect system (branded as Connect 2, Connect 3, or NissanConnect EV on the Leaf). Most Nissan Connect systems from 2013 to 2022 use an SD card to store map data, with HERE map data powering the navigation.

Which Nissan Models Use a Navigation SD Card?

  • Qashqai (2013–2021, J11) — Nissan Connect navigation on N-Connecta, Tekna, and Tekna+ trims
  • Juke (2010–2019, F15) — Nissan Connect navigation on N-Connecta and Tekna
  • X-Trail (2013–2021, T32) — Nissan Connect on N-Connecta and Tekna
  • Leaf (2013–2022) — NissanConnect EV navigation; SD card on Acenta+ and Tekna trims
  • Micra (2017–2022, K14) — Nissan Connect on N-Connecta Nav and Tekna
  • Navara (2016–2022) — Nissan Connect navigation on Tekna trim
  • Pulsar (2014–2018) — Nissan Connect navigation on N-Connecta and Tekna

Where Is the SD Card Slot?

On most Nissan Connect models, the navigation SD card slot is on the face of the infotainment head unit — a small slot below or beside the screen. On some Leaf models, the slot may be in the centre console area. The card uses standard SD format.

What a Current Map Update Includes

  • Updated HERE UK and European road network
  • Revised speed limits including new 20mph zones across UK towns
  • Fixed speed camera positions on UK roads
  • Updated EV charging point locations — especially relevant for Leaf and e-NV200 drivers
  • New postcode and address coverage for recently built properties

Installation Process

  • Start the engine
  • Press the existing SD card to eject it from the head unit slot
  • Insert the new map update card until it clicks
  • Confirm the installation prompt on the Nissan Connect screen
  • Allow 25–50 minutes with the engine running
  • Leave the card inserted permanently — it stores the map data

Nissan Leaf and Navigation Updates

The Nissan Leaf is the UK’s best-selling electric car over its lifetime, and many Leaf drivers rely on the factory nav for routing to public charging points. A current map update card includes significantly more EV charging locations than a 2020 or older card — reflecting the rapid expansion of the UK’s charging infrastructure. Leaf drivers benefit particularly from keeping maps current.
