Fiat Navigation Systems Overview
Fiat has fitted navigation to its models across several different platform generations, with map storage moving from DVD to SD card over time. Here’s how to identify which system your Fiat has and what map update it needs.
Blue&Me Nav (2006–2014)
Blue&Me Nav was Fiat’s navigation solution developed in partnership with TomTom. It appeared in the Fiat Punto, Bravo, Linea, Freemont and Doblo from around 2006. Earlier versions used a DVD for map storage; later Blue&Me Nav units switched to SD card. The TomTom interface is visible when using navigation — it runs as an application within the Fiat infotainment system rather than as a fully integrated native system.
To check your version: press the NAV button → Menu → Settings → About.
Uconnect NAV (2012–2019)
The Uconnect NAV system was introduced with the Fiat 500L and 500X, later rolling out across the Fiat 500, Tipo, Qubo and other models. Uconnect NAV uses an SD card for map storage, typically inserted into a slot on the front face of the head unit or inside the glovebox depending on the model year.
The Uconnect platform is shared across the wider Stellantis group — the same system and map format is used in Jeep, Dodge and Ram vehicles sold in Europe, which means map cards designed for Uconnect are widely available.
Connect Systems (2019+)
Newer Fiat models use the Connect infotainment system with a larger touchscreen. Depending on specification, navigation may be included natively with SD card maps, or via a smartphone mirroring integration (Apple CarPlay / Android Auto) without a dedicated map card.
Finding the SD Card Slot
- Uconnect NAV: Front face of the head unit (slot below the screen) or in the glovebox
- Blue&Me Nav: Varies — check behind the head unit faceplate or in the centre console
Installing a Fiat Navigation Map Update
- Turn on the ignition
- Insert the new navigation SD card into the correct slot
- The system will detect the card and prompt to begin the update
- Confirm and allow the update to complete — typically 20–35 minutes
- Keep the ignition on throughout; do not remove the card mid-update
