Suzuki Navigation SD Card Guide: Vitara, Swift, S-Cross and More

Suzuki Factory Navigation

Suzuki’s UK-market vehicles with factory navigation use a HERE map-based system with an SD card for map storage. Not all Suzuki models come with built-in navigation — many use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto instead — so it’s worth checking whether your specific trim level has a factory sat nav before purchasing an update card.

Which Suzuki Models Have Factory Navigation?

  • Vitara (2015–2022) — navigation on SZ-T and SZ5 trim levels; some models have only CarPlay/Android Auto depending on year
  • S-Cross (2013–2022) — navigation on SZ-T and SZ5 trims
  • Swift (2017–2022, AZ) — navigation on SZ5 and Sport trim levels (many Swifts do not have factory nav)
  • Baleno (2016–2019) — navigation on SZ5 trim
  • Ignis (2017–2022) — navigation on SZ5 trim

How to Confirm Your Suzuki Has a Navigation SD Card

Press the Nav button on your infotainment system, or look for a map display on the main screen. If you see a turn-by-turn navigation screen with a map, your vehicle has factory navigation. If you only see a CarPlay/Android Auto screen, your vehicle does not use a navigation SD card — it relies on your connected phone for directions.

Where Is the SD Card Slot?

On Suzuki models with factory navigation, the SD card slot is typically located on the face of the infotainment head unit, below or beside the screen. It takes a standard SD card. Check your owner’s manual for the exact position on your model year.

Installation Process

  • Start the engine
  • Press the existing SD card to eject it from the head unit slot
  • Insert the new navigation update card until it clicks
  • Confirm the installation prompt on screen
  • Allow 20–40 minutes for the maps to install
  • Leave the card in permanently — it stores the map data the navigation reads from

What’s Included in a Current Update

  • Updated HERE UK and European road network
  • Revised speed limits including new 20mph zones
  • Fixed speed camera locations for UK roads
  • Updated Points of Interest: fuel stations, EV chargers, motorway services
  • New postcode data for recently built addresses

CarPlay vs Factory Navigation on Suzuki

From 2021 onwards, many Suzuki models shifted away from factory navigation in favour of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all trims. These newer models do not use a navigation SD card at all — routing is handled entirely through a connected phone. If your Suzuki is a 2021 or newer model and you’re unsure whether it has factory navigation, check the Settings → About menu on the infotainment screen.
