Renault and Dacia Navigation SD Card Guide: R-Link, MediaNav and Easy Link

Renault and Dacia Navigation: Which System Do You Have?

Renault and Dacia share infotainment platforms, with navigation available across a wide range of models. The system you have depends on your model, year and specification level. Here’s how to identify each generation.

Renault Navigation Systems

TomTom-Based Navigation (2008–2013)

Renault partnered with TomTom for factory navigation in models from around 2008–2013. These systems use an SD card for map storage, with the TomTom interface visible on the screen. Models include Renault Megane (Mk3), Scenic (Mk3), Laguna (Mk3) and Espace (Mk4).

R-Link (2012–2017)

R-Link introduced a fully integrated touchscreen system with app-based navigation. R-Link 1 uses a 7-inch screen; R-Link 2 introduced a larger, higher-resolution display. Both versions use SD cards for map data, with the slot typically located in the glovebox or behind a panel near the handbrake.

Found in: Renault Clio (Mk4), Megane (Mk4), Scenic (Mk4), Kadjar, Captur (first generation), Koleos, Talisman, Espace (Mk5) and others.

Easy Link (2019+)

Renault’s current infotainment system, featuring a larger portrait-format touchscreen. Easy Link systems receive over-the-air map updates when connected to a data source, though SD card updates are still required on some variants.

Dacia Navigation: MediaNav

Dacia models use the MediaNav system — a simplified navigation unit shared across the Duster, Logan, Sandero, Lodgy and Dokker. MediaNav uses an SD card for map storage. The SD card slot is located on the front face of the head unit.

MediaNav Evolution (from around 2016) has an updated interface but uses the same SD card format. Dacia models with MediaNav from 2013 onwards are supported with regular map updates.

Finding the SD Card Slot

Location varies by model:

  • R-Link 1: Behind a small flap near the centre armrest or in the glovebox
  • R-Link 2: In the glovebox
  • MediaNav: On the front face of the head unit

Updating Your Maps

With ignition on, insert the navigation SD card into the correct slot. The system will detect the new map data and show an update prompt. Confirm to begin. The update runs in the background and the car can be driven during the process — though it’s recommended to complete the update while parked. Keep the card inserted after update, as maps are read from it continuously.
