Nissan Navigation SD Card Guide: Connect 1, Connect 2 and Connect 3

Nissan Navigation SD Cards: Three Systems, Three Cards

Nissan has used three generations of its Connect navigation system over the past decade, each requiring a different SD card. It’s important to match the correct card to your system — using the wrong version will result in an error or the system not recognising the card at all.

Nissan Connect 1 (LCN1)

The first generation of Nissan Connect (also called LCN1 — Low Cost Navigation 1) was used from approximately 2009 to 2014. It uses a standard SD card and is identifiable by its older-style interface with physical buttons and a 5″ or 6″ screen.

Compatible models:

  • Nissan Qashqai (J10, pre-facelift)
  • Nissan Juke (F15, early)
  • Nissan Note (E11), Micra (K13)
  • Nissan Leaf (ZE0, early)
  • Nissan Navara (D40 facelift), X-Trail (T31)

The latest available map version for LCN1 is V12, covering UK and Europe.

Nissan Connect 2 (LCN2)

Introduced around 2013–2014, Connect 2 (LCN2) features a more modern touchscreen interface and improved navigation software. The SD card slot is typically located in the glovebox or behind the head unit.

Compatible models:

  • Nissan Qashqai (J11, 2014–2021)
  • Nissan Juke (F15 facelift, YF15)
  • Nissan Note (E12), Micra (K14)
  • Nissan Leaf (ZE1), E-NV200
  • Nissan X-Trail (T32, 2014–2021)
  • Nissan Pulsar, Navara (NP300)

Connect 2 cards are available in V5 and V6 versions. V6 is the most current and includes updated speed camera data and revised road network for UK and Europe.

Nissan Connect 3

Connect 3 is the most recent SD card-based Nissan navigation system, used in models from approximately 2018–2022 before Nissan transitioned to over-the-air map updates on newer vehicles.

Compatible models:

  • Nissan Qashqai (J11 facelift, 2018–2021)
  • Nissan Juke (F16, 2019+, selected trims)
  • Nissan X-Trail (T32 facelift)

How to Identify Your Nissan Connect Version

  • Check the screen: Connect 1 has a more basic appearance; Connect 2 and 3 have touchscreens with a modern flat design
  • Go to Settings → System → Version Information — the software version will confirm the platform
  • Check the existing SD card part number (if present)

Renault Compatibility

Nissan Connect systems share platform technology with Renault’s navigation systems. If you drive a Renault with the Carminat TomTom, R-Link or Blaupunkt system, these use separate SD cards specific to Renault — not interchangeable with Nissan Connect cards.

Installing a Nissan Connect SD Card

  1. Turn off the engine and locate the SD card slot (glovebox, centre console or dashboard depending on model year)
  2. Remove the existing card if fitted
  3. Insert the new SD card firmly until it clicks into place
  4. Turn on the ignition — the system will detect and load the new maps automatically
  5. Allow 2–5 minutes for the first boot to complete
