DS Automobiles Navigation SD Card Guide: DS3, DS4, DS5 and DS7 Crossback

DS Automobiles and the NAC Navigation System

DS Automobiles is the premium brand within the Stellantis group (formerly PSA), positioned above Citroën. DS models share the NAC (Nouvelle Architecture Connectée) infotainment platform with Peugeot and Citroën, which means the navigation SD card format and update process is broadly consistent across all three brands from the same era.

Which DS Models Use SD Card Navigation?

  • DS3 / DS3 Crossback (first gen, 2010–2019; second gen E-Tense from 2019)
  • DS4 (first gen B7, 2011–2018; second gen from 2021)
  • DS5 (B8, 2011–2018)
  • DS7 Crossback (X74, from 2017)

Navigation was standard on DS Connected Chic, Opera and Performance Line specifications, and available as an option on lower trims.

Navigation System Versions on DS Models

SMEG (DS3, DS4, DS5 — first generation)

Earlier DS models (DS3, DS4, DS5 before 2018) used the SMEG system shared with Peugeot and Citroën. SMEG uses an SD card for navigation with the slot typically located in the glovebox.

NAC (DS7 Crossback and DS3 Crossback from 2017)

The DS7 Crossback and second-generation DS3 Crossback use the NAC system — a more advanced platform with a larger touchscreen and improved voice recognition. NAC also uses an SD card for map storage, with the slot in the glovebox or centre console area depending on the model year.

Identifying Your System

SMEG has a 7-inch touchscreen with a distinctive circular central button. NAC has a larger 8–10 inch screen with a more modern layout. To check your map version: Settings → System → Version.

Installing the Navigation Map Update

  • Switch on the ignition
  • Insert the navigation SD card into the correct slot (glovebox or centre console)
  • The system detects the card and prompts an update
  • Confirm to begin — keep the ignition on throughout (20–40 minutes)
  • Leave the card inserted after completion — navigation reads from it during use
